KOHA - History

Its started sometimes in mid June 2008. We amongst xlibrarian & technologies were discussed about the technology adapted to libraries. The main topic for sure is about library system & also the future of security system in libraries. The reality in Malaysian's academic or university libraries is considered at par with libraries in develop country in term of using system in their daily activities such as operation or information access (but not the system they are using). At a lower level such as colleges, teachers colleges, high or lower school, they are not much bother about system due to the constraint on budgetary. The implementation & maintenance cost is high. Due to this, they are backward in library technology. The ideas & how to resolve this issue is GO FOR OPEN SOURCE. We have alternative system that is KOHA. Yes, we decided to offer our services for a small and medium libraries at a basic charges. Here we go ....
